ISN'T BEING FOR THE RICH A GOOD THING? By: Trent (All rights reserved)

We always hear that the Republicans are for the rich and the Democrats are for the poor...right? On the surface
this seems like a straight forward position for both parties. If you are rich you should vote for Republicans...if you
are poor you should vote for Democrats. However, think about these statements for a second. Then think, what
do politicians want most? Your vote. They want as many votes as possible from as many people as possible.
Agree so far? Let's take it that next step then. If Republicans are for the rich, they are going to set policies such
that more and more people become wealthy. Then they will have more people to vote for them. On the flip side,
if Democrats are for the poor, how will they set their policies? You got it. Their policies will be set such that there
are more poor people. Then they will have more people to vote for them. Which do you prefer? Think about it.
If you are a liberal reading this, you'll probably disagree. I ask this question of you, "What has the Democratic
agenda done for the poor?" Nothing. It has made them more dependant on the government and less empowered
to become wealthy on their own. Admit to it or not, that is exactly what they have done....in my opinion on
purpose. That way there are people dependant on the government instead of taking responsibility for their own
financial circumstances. There are more poor people and the simple stereotype says that they will vote for the
Democrats.
Take the Republican's agenda. Lower the taxes for everyone. And don't tell me that the poorest of the poor
suffer because they don't get a tax cut. THEY"RE NOT PAYING ANY TAXES TO BEGIN WITH!!!
Sorry...I just really hate that argument. They believe, at least the conservative ones do, that the government should
not be taking as much money in the form of taxes from the people of this country. They believe in setting policy so
that it is easier to obtain wealth. The people of this country know how to spend our money better than the
government does. It is OUR money not Washington's.
Take a quick look again. The Democrats believe the more poor people the better. They don't say that of course,
but actions speak louder than words. The Republicans believe the more wealthy people there are the better.
They don't really say that either, but their actions speak for themselves. If you're already wealthy, it makes sense
to vote for the Republicans. If you are like me and you want to BECOME wealthy, it makes sense to vote for the
Republicans. I guess what I'm saying is that it doesn't make much sense to vote for the Democrats.
People don't seem to understand that the extreme wealthy didn't get to that position with their salaries alone. They
took their hard earned money and invested it.
If you cut taxes for the wealthy you put more money in their pockets. They take this extra money and invest it in
the stock market. This creates hundreds of jobs across the country. With each investment, more jobs are created.
So in a sense, Republicans are for everyone. They're for tax cuts across the board which helps everyone who
currently work. They're for investment opportunities which help the economy of the nation. These investments
create larger job pools for those who cannot find work. This gets people off our already taxed welfare system
which again, is better for the nation. When a person works for a living rather then "collects" a check to live, it
instills a sense of pride. They can bank off this feeling and strive to constantly better themselves.
All around, the Republican way is better for EVERYONE.
Let’s look at the flip side: Democrats don't seem to understand the phrase "America, land of opportunity". It's
crazy the way liberals/democrats reason with things. They act like we live in a country that when you are born you’
re issued: One, a birth certificate. Two, a salary possibility card. "Sorry Mr. and Mrs. Smith. You child pulled
$20,000.00 a year salary card." Now remember, always teach him that he can't ever make over $20,000.00.
That’s the limit." "Oh Mr. and Mrs. O’Neil your child pulled a no career card. She is not allowed to work ever.
Welfare program is the only thing for her". "Mr. and Mrs. Adams your son is a lucky one! He can make as much
money as he wants. Teach him: The sky’s the limit!"
Now if we lived in this altered crazy universe I laid out I'd be completely for "taking care" of the little people, after
all it was a luck of the draw when the where born. It’s not their fault they HAVE to be poor. But we don't live in
that world; we live in the great United States of America. The land of opportunity. Like you said in you editorial
"Wherever you are in your life, that’s where you want to be." I can't agree more.
No I'm not naive. I know it’s much harder for a person that was born into poverty to become rich, then a person
born into a multi-million dollar legacy. But it is not impossible. It just requires a lot of hard work. I was raised
completely middle class. My Dad's even a registered Democrat. Coming out of high school I was perfectly fine
with staying in a middle class status. That was my choice. Now I'm back in school and work full time because I
want more for me and my family. This is my choice.
Democrats are all for raising taxes which take money away from investment opportunities. Less investment = a
worse economy and less jobs. Less jobs = more people on welfare. The democrats support the welfare system
because after all, these people have no choice. This hurts our nation. When a person is given something for free,
like a monthly welfare check or free insurance (Medicaid), it gives them no incentive to take care of themselves.
This hurts our nation. If the poor don't have an incentive to help themselves, how then have we actually helped
them?
With this I don't see anyway Democrats help the poor, the rich, the middle, or the nation for that matter.
The path to choose is pretty cut and dry for me. - Brandon
