“If you support this war so much, why aren’t you over in Iraq fighting?”  It’s a question I get in emails and
messages over at my MySpace page all the time.  You hear the libs asking all the conservative talk show hosts and
pundit’s the same question.  What the liberals don’t understand is that with this one simple question, they are
displaying their disdain of the military for all to see.  Their question makes the assumption that anyone who
supports the war could make it in the military.  Their question makes the assumption that anyone who supports the
war has what it takes to be in the military.  This question implies that anyone can be in the military.  Well, the libs
are dead wrong.  It takes an amazing person to be in our armed forces.  Not just anyone can be successful in the
Marines, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force or the Coast Guard.  It takes a person of steadfast commitment,
nerves of steel, courage beyond what normal people have, to be in the United States military.  It takes intelligent,
hardworking, unselfish, proud individuals to be in the United States military.  People with strength and discipline
and bravery that us ordinary people could only dream of.  Yes, the fine men and women of our armed forces are
EXTRAordinary people.  They possess characteristics not found in everyday Americans.  They are special.  They
are the best America has to offer.  So for the libs to assume that just anyone could go over and fight in the war is
an insult to our military.  It is an insult to our military heroes’ sacrifice.  It is an insult to all the hard work and the
sweat and the tears that these courageous men and women have put in to become a member of our armed forces.
Of course, with comments like that of John Kerry….”You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you
study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don’t, you
get stuck in Iraq.” ….we know the liberals think very little of just what kind of person joins the military.  It is
people such as myself, who will come right out and say, “I do not have what it takes to be in the military,” that
truly appreciate what these people do for us.  I don’t pretend that I have the skills and the courage and the
discipline to be in the military.  I don’t have them.  I fully recognize that not just anyone can be in the military.  This
is the reason I support our troops as much as I do.  This is the reason I am in awe of them.  This is the reason they
have my utmost respect.  This is the reason I will defend them to all the peaceniks out there that try to disparage
them.  This is the reason I love them as dearly as I do.  This is the reason I thank them whenever I can.

I like to use the example of a brain surgeon when discussing this topic with liberals.  I ask them, “If something
traumatic happened to a loved one of yours and they needed brain surgery, would you support the brain
surgeon?”  They always say, “Well of course!”  So then I respond, “Well if you support the brain surgeon so
much, why aren’t you a brain surgeon?”  The answer  comes back, “Well, I’m not smart enough,”  or  “I don’t
have the skills to be a brain surgeon,”  or  “I didn’t have the commitment to go to college and medical school to
become one.”  It’s the same exact thing.  They would support the brain surgeon to do what he has been trained to
do even though they could never do it themselves.  I support our military to do what they have been trained to do
even though I could never do it myself.

Does that answer your question?
