I KNOW...I KNOW....NOT SO MANY BLOG POSTS LATELY

I know I haven't had very many blog posts recently.  Truth is, with my wife being layed off, I've been trying to pick up as many hours as possible at my job.  Add in my kids' events and I just haven't had much time.  I've said this in the past when my life has gotten hectic.  I don't have such an ego that I think you all need my blog posts.  There are tons of websites with full staffs that can blog everyday about all the issues.  I have many of them listed on my links page.  ProudConservative.com is just me.  The one thing I can promise is that if you order any ProudConservative.com merchandise, the orders are shipped out in an extremely timely manner.....many times on the same day the order is received.

I will try to post when I can.  As a matter of fact, I have a HUGE black Friday through cyber Monday sale coming up in a few days.  The lowest prices ever on all the merchandise.  I suggest you check back in on Thanksgiving night for details.  BELIEVE ME!!!!!  You'll want to stock up this weekend and get all your Christmas and Chanukah shopping done this weekend.

I appreciate your patience.

THANK YOU VETERANS!

No matter how many times I write about Veteran's Day, I never feel like I have the words to convey my true appreciation for all the courageous men and women who have served this nation with honor, bravery and distinction.  Our veterans have that special something that the rest of us can only dream about having.  Their selflessness, commitment to country and family and their sacrifices are something those of us who have not served will never truly understand. We owe them all a debt that can never be repayed.

So....knowing my words here are inadequate at best...let me simply say to our veterans, "Thank you."

REPUBLICANS WIN VA AND NJ GOVERNORSHIPS

Conservative Republican, Bob McDonnell easily won Virginia's Governor race yesterday by an 18 point margin.  Just last year, Barack Obama won the state of Virginia with a 6 point margin over John McCain. That is a 24 point swing towards the Republicans.

In New Jersey, while certainly not a full on conservative, but far from being a liberal, Republican Chris Christie, won the Governor race with a 5 point margin.  Barack Obama also won New Jersey last year with a 15 point margin.  That is a 20 point swing towards the Republicans.

Many liberals are saying these races were not a referendum on President Obama, and to some extent there is some truth to that.  People tend to vote locally on local issues.  However, polling at the voting stations showed that many people were voting as a way to show their displeasure with Obama and the current direction of this country.  Time will tell.  The 2010 mid-term elections will be a much better barometer for voters' satisfaction or dissatisfaction with Obama and the Democratic Congress.

NEW YORK 23 RESULTS

The election has come and gone and unfortunately Doug Hoffman did not come out on top.  What does this say?.....that a conservative can't win elections?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!  What it says is that the Republican party elite chose a liberal to run as the Republican candidate and the conservatives and most of the Republicans rejected their liberal pick.  It says that if the party had backed a conservative from the beginning, they wouldn't have wasted $900,000.00 on a liberal who ended up quitting the race.

Some have already suggested that conservatives should never have backed Hoffman and then maybe Scozzafava, the liberal running as a Republican, would have won and that seat would have remained in the Republican aisle.  That is complete nonsense.  Had Scozzafava won, all we would have had was another liberal in Congress who happened to have an (R) after her name.  She would have voted with the Democrats.  It would have made no difference.  As proof of this, when Sozzafava dropped out of the race, she endorsed the liberal Democrat in the race.  This shows where her ideology is.....liberal.

What people need to remember is that this was a special election.  This seat is up again in one year...2010.  Had Scozzafava won, she would be the incumbent and you know the parties fight off primary challengers in favor of incumbents.  Doug Hoffman, while not winning, saved NY 23 from having a liberal "Republican" fill that seat.  In 2010, a conservative can try to win that seat back....hopefully with backing form the Republican party from the outset.

OF ALL PLACES, I GET QUOTED IN THE VILLAGE VOICE!

When I lived in NYC, I used to browse through the Village Voice.  It had the best listing of shows anywhere in the city.

Politically though, it's extremely liberal.  So you can imagine how shocked I was this morning to find that I was quoted in an article in the Village Voice.

There is an article entitled, "Rightbloggers get a scalp, and perhaps a party, in NY-23" written by Roy Edroso.

The article basically talks about the the race in New York district 23 and how the conservatives broke rank with the Republicans and took a stand against liberal Republicans.  There were several quotes from various conservative blogs including one from me.

"For the Republicans who consider themselves conservative and still endorsed Scozzafava," said Proud Conservative, "let this be a lesson to you. We are done with the RINOs... You want us back? Start supporting the conservative candidates."

That was from a quick little post I made the other day when Dede Scozzafava, the liberal Republican in the race, who was endorsed by several of the Republican establishment, dropped out of the race.  I was making the point that electing liberals with an (R) after their name is no better than electing a Democrat.  And as conservatives, we are getting sick and tired of the Republican elite trying to force this Democrat lite crap on us.

So that's it for now.  I just thought it was kind of fun that I was quoted in The Village Voice and wanted to share that with you.
