AL GORES USED FICTIONAL VIDEO IN "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH"

As with so much of Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," here's another example of pure fiction in this movie.

By Noel Sheppard | April 22, 2008

It goes without saying that climate realists around the world believe Nobel Laureate Al Gore used false information throughout his schlockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth" in order to generate global warming hysteria.

On Friday, it was revealed by ABC News that one of the famous shots of supposed Antarctic ice shelves in the film was actually a computer-generated image from the 2004 science fiction blockbuster "The Day After Tomorrow."

Adding delicious insult to injury, this was presented by one of ABC's foremost global warming alarmists Sam Champion during Friday's "20/20":

SAM CHAMPION (ABC NEWS)

(Voiceover) Al Gore's 2006 documentary, 'An Inconvenient Truth," makes the same point with actual video of ice shelves calving. Which shots have more impact?

AL GORE (FORMER UNITED STATES VICE PRESIDENT)

And if you were flying over it in a helicopter, you'd see it's 700 feet tall. They are so majestic.

SAM CHAMPION (ABC NEWS)

(Voiceover) Wait a minute, that shot looks just like the one in the opening credits of "The Day After Tomorrow."

KAREN GOULEKAS (VISUAL EFFECTS SUPERVISOR)

Yeah, that's, that's our shot. That's a fully computer generated shot. There's nothing real in there.

SAM CHAMPION (ABC NEWS)

(Voiceover) Audiences expect Hollywood to twist fact into fiction. But Gore's documentary does the opposite, using a fake shot to make a real point, that ice shelves are disappearing, and vanishing ice means global warming.

Apparently, ABC tried to get a comment from Gore concerning the matter, but none was forthcoming:

TED KENNEDY DIAGNOSED WITH RARE BRAIN CANCER

BOSTON —  Sen. Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital announced Tuesday, four days after the Democratic senator was rushed to the hospital following seizures.

Kennedy, 76, was diagnosed with the tumor Tuesday morning after he underwent a biopsy.

"Preliminary results from a biopsy of the brain identified the cause of the seizure as a malignant glioma in the left parietal lobe," his doctors said in a statement, adding that treatment would likely include "combinations of various forms of radiation and chemotherapy."

Ted Kennedy is one of the biggest liberals in the government.  I have been critical of him on many occasions.  His policies and his politics have been detrimental to this nation.  He has been in the government for way too long.  His leaving the Senate will be a good thing for this country.  That being said, I would not wish this disease on any person.  My mother died from cancer and it is not a disease I would like to see anyone suffer from.  My best wishes for his health and to his family and  loved ones.

KEITH OLBERMANN TAKES A SHOT AT MARK LEVIN

I'm flipping around the channels late last night and I stop on MSNBC to see what nonsense Keith Olbermann is spouting.  I hear him say something about his comments about murderers and mercenaries and the far right's reaction to him.  I knew EXACTLY what he was talking about, so I stayed tuned in to see how he was going to spin it.

Last week Keith Olbermann said on his low rated cable show on MSNBC, "Mr. Bush, at long last, has it not dawned on you that the America you have now created, includes 'cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives?' They are those in, or formerly in, your employ, who may yet be charged some day with war crimes."

Mark Levin took exception to that quote last week and blasted Olbermann for denouncing our brave troops as cold blooded killers and suggested that MSNBC suspend him.

Last night Olbermann says the following to try to spin his way out of his remarks.

"Strangely, when the terms cold-blood killers and mercenaries were used in a public forum, my critics in the lunatic fringe, rather than even considering that the criticism even might be directed at the Pentagon or the administration or Blackwater USA, immediately decided that these were descriptions of our American heroes fighting in Iraq.

It is perhaps instructive, I think, that to the right wing commentators and right wing blogs those terms should first invoke not the war-mongers of the Pentagon, nor the gunmen from Blackwater, but U.S. troops.

I can not imagine that kind of evil knee-jerk reflex. I feel very sorry for those who have shown it. It seems to me that these right wingers have inadvertently shown then their true colors, their instinctive hatred for and contempt for those self-sacrificing Americans who have been needlessly placed in harm`s way by these very commentators and the politicians they support. They hear criticism of our nation`s collective conduct in Iraq and they immediately assume it`s the fault of the soldiers."

He then ended it with the following quote:

"In the wake of an insult that exists only in their minds and never in my words nor in my heart, there remains, I think, only one question to ask: Laura Ingraham and Mark Levin, why do you hate our troops?"

I'm not quite sure what Laura Ingraham said about Olbermann's remarks, but I did hear Mark Levin take him on last week.  There is not a single rational person who has ever listened to Mark Levin who could possibly say that Mark Levin hates our troops.  He shows nothing but respect and admiration for these men and women who serve our country.

All I can say is that I can not wait to hear Mark Levin's response today.

EDWARDS ENDORSES OBAMA

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - Democrat John Edwards endorsed former rival Barack Obama on Wednesday, a move designed to help solidify support for the party's likely presidential nominee even as Hillary Rodham Clinton refuses to give up her long-shot candidacy.

Edwards made a surprise appearance with Obama in Grand Rapids, Mich., as the Illinois senator campaigns in a critical general election battleground state.

The endorsement came a day after Clinton defeated Obama by more than 2-to-1 in the West Virginia primary. The loss highlighted Obama's challenge in winning over the "Hillary Democrats" - white, working-class voters who also supported Edwards in significant numbers before he exited the race in late January.

MAY 13TH ELECTION RESULTS

West Virginia voters went to the polls and picked Sen. John McCain as the winner for the Republicans and Sen. Hillary Clinton as the winner for the Democrats.

Sen. John McCain received 76% of the vote.  Gov. Mike Huckabee garnered 10% of the vote and Rep. Ron Paul gathered 5% of the vote.  Yes McCain has the nomination sewed up and yet Republicans are still coming out to vote against him.  It shows many of our frustration with his candidacy.

Sen. Hillary Clinton trounced Sen. Barack Obama by winning 67% of the vote to his 26% of the vote.  It was expected Hillary would win West Virginia, however, very few pundits believed she would win by 41 points.

MAY 6TH ELECTION RESULTS

Sen. Jon McCain has already wrapped up the nomination for the Republicans, yet other candidates are still receiving a good percentage of votes.  If this were earlier in the primary process, it would be considered landslide victories.  However, considering the other candidates have no chance of getting the nomination and have all dropped out of the race, I think it is significant.

Sen. Barack Obama defeated Sen. Hillary Clinton in North Carolina by 14 points.  Sen. Hillary Clinton defeated Sen. Barack Obama by a narrow margin of 2 points.

Sen. Hillary Clinton has vowed to stay in the race until there is a nominee.  Her only realistic chance of getting the nomination, is to have the superdelegates change the outcome of the primary vote.
