FOX NEWS REPUBLICAN DEBATE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

The Republicans met in New Hampshire last night for another debate.  The debate started off with a short discussion on Fred Thompson but then moved on to the real issues.

Once again, the war in Iraq was the major topic.  Once again Ron Paul showed he was a kook.  The quote of the night as far as I'm concerned doesn't go to a candidate on the stage, but rather to Chris Wallace who was one of the questioners.  After Ron Paul said, "Yes, I would leave. I would leave completely. Why leave the troops in the region? It was the fact that we had troops in Saudi Arabia -- was one of the three reasons given for the attack on 9/11.  So why leave them in the region? They don't want our troops on the Arabian Peninsula. We have no need for our national security to have troops on the Arabian Peninsula."  Chris Wallace came back with "Congressman Paul...you're basically saying that we should take our marching orders from Al Qaida? If they want us off the Arabian Peninsula, we should leave?"  CLASSIC!

The other major issue discussed were illegal immigration, border security and taxes.  According to the polls (with the exception of the text messaging one in which the Ron Paul kooks and liberal bloggers go insane with) the candidates that stood out were Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee and John McCain.

Personally, I liked this debate.  It seemed as if the candidates were given time to express their thoughts.  There were even a few instances of actual debate instead of cramming soundbites in to a minute speech.  Most notably was the exchange between Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee.  I could type it all out here, but it's easier to just go to YouTube and actually watch it.  Or click on the link at the end to read the entire transcript of the debate.

Fred Thompson will be involved in future debates, but I think it may be time for some of the other candidates to get out.
