MEDIA MATTERS ATTACKS RUSH LIMBAUGH

Once again, the liberal hit group Media Matters has attacked a conservative based on quotes taken out of context and outright lies.  Earlier in the week they were attacking Bill O'Reilly and now they have turned their sites on Rush Limbaugh.  The group claimed that Rush called service members that support U.S. withdrawal "phony soldiers."  He did no such thing.

HOT AIR has the video of what Rush said and a discussion of the whole issue.

Media Matters is a so called "non partisan" tax-exept group.  In reality they are a liberal Democrat hit machine organized to attack conservatives in the media.  They do not criticize the lies and distortions by any of the left wing pundits and talk radio hosts.  How they can claim to be non-partisan is joke.  However, the fact that they are a tax-exempt group is not.  This organization is being subsidized by the American public because of their false status.

Thank goodness there are bloggers and websites and conservatives across this nation, watching what they are doing and reporting the truth about their false accusations.

MURTHA DEFAMATION LAWSUIT MOVES FORWARD

"A federal judge refused Friday to dismiss a defamation case against Rep. John P. Murtha and ordered the Pennsylvania Democrat to give a sworn deposition in the case.

A Marine Corps sergeant is suing the 16-term congressman for alleging “cold-blooded murder and war crimes” by unnamed soldiers in connection with the deaths of Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha."

REST OF THE STORY: HOT AIR

My take of this is I am happy to hear that Rep. Murtha is being held to account for his slanderous statement.  It is one thing to criticize the war or the Bush administration.  It is quite another thing to accuse our troops of "killing innocent civilians in cold blood."

JOHN EDWARDS RACIST THOUGHTS ON BLACK AMERICANS

John Edwards announced his thoughts on young black males Americans.

"We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two,” Edwards said.

He is essentially saying that young black male Americans are all criminals.  This is insight on what the liberal elitists think about the black community.  It is beyond me, how the Democrats continue to receive the support from the majority of the black community.

Can you imagine the outrage if the same words were uttered by a Republican?  There would be nonstop news coverage of it.  There would be calls for apologies.  If it was one of the Republcans running for President, he would be asked to get out of the race.  Yet, this fool, with his racist remarks, is celebrated in the Democratic Party.

YET ANOTHER REASON HILLARY IS DANGEROUS

Hillary Clinton isn't even hiding her passion to turn this great country into just another failed socialist government.  We all know she wants to take over 1/5 of this nation's economy by instituting socialized health care.  Now, she is proposing that every child born in the United States be given a $5000.00 savings bond.

"I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time, so that when that young person turns 18 if they have finished high school they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to make that down payment on their first home," Clinton said.

This is totally and completely absurd.  Where is this money going to come from?  You got it....HIGHER taxes.  Nevermind the fact that it is unconstitutional.  And notice she says "every baby born in America."  So now, all the illegal aliens that cross the border and plop out a child on our side of the border are "entitled" to this $5000.00 bond as well.

This is getting dangerous.  The Democrats are taking everything that was great about this nation and flushing it down the toilet in order to gain power.  America was built on hard work, imagination and freedom.  It was not built on government handouts.  It was not built by the government providing cradle to the grave entitlements.  This is getting serious.  If we are to save this nation from becoming just another socialist country in this world, we have to do something.  Write about this nonsense in your blogs.  Write about what they are trying to do on your MySpace pages and websites.  Call your Senators and Congressmen.  Write your newspapers.  Talk to your friends, family and neighbors.  Don't leave it up to others.  Take control.  I'm doing what I can and I hope all of you will also.

WHO IS MORE "DANGEROUS?" HINT: IT'S NOT WHO YOU THINK

The day that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was given the opportunity to speak at Columbia University in New York, the powers that be over at Seton Hall University in New Jersey were canceling the appearance of Sirius Satellite Radio's Andrew Wilkow and former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay.  Wilkow and DeLay were invited to speak to the campus as part of their college tour by the campus Republicans.  However, the Seton Hall administration decided to cancel the appearance claiming that Tom DeLay would cast a negative light on their institution.

So in the minds of the head honchos over at Seton Hall, Andrew Wilkow and Tom DeLay are more "dangerous" than the likes of Ahmadinejad.  It's disgraceful that the liberals in this country were whining and crying that the leader of Iran, the world's leader in state sponsored terrorism, should be given his right to free speech.  Yet, they deny and they cheer the denial of the free speech rights of Andrew Wilkow and Tom DeLay.  Yes, hypocrisy at it's finest.

HITLER WOULD BE WELCOME AT COLUMBIA

You think I just made that up as an overzealous right wing nut case?  Actually, the Dean of Columbia, John Coatsworth, admitted as much in an interview.  He is currently allowing the leader of Iran, the nation most involved in state sponsored terrorism, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to address his students.  This is a nation that is supplying IEDs and other weapons to the terrorists in Iraq.  These weapons are killing our troops, and Mr. Coatsworth is giving this scum a forum to speak?  It's disgraceful.

NY TIMES ADMITS PETRAEUS AD WAS "A LOW BLOW"

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Times said on Sunday it made a mistake in charging a discounted rate for printing a political ad that attacked the top U.S. general in Iraq, angering Republicans and drawing charges the newspaper is politicalky biased.

Given the mistake, Moveon.org, the liberal anti-war group that purchased the ad on September 10 -- the day Gen. David Petraeus testified to Congress about the war in Iraq -- said on Sunday it was willing to pay the full price.

The ad, headlined "General Petraeus or General Betray Us," accused Petraeus of "cooking the books for the White House."

The New York Times' public editor Clark Hoyt wrote that in his opinion, not only did the advertiser get a discount it was not entitled to, but the ad violated The Times' own written standards.

"The ad appears to fly in the face of an internal advertising acceptability manual that says, 'We do not accept opinion advertisements that are attacks of a personal nature,"' he wrote, adding that the phrase "Betray Us" was "a particularly low blow when aimed at a soldier."

THE REST OF THE STORY

My take on this is that the New York Times was feeling the heat.  They knew they had been caught and now they are trying to squirm there way out of trouble.  MoveOn.org is helping them wriggle loose by offering to pay the balance.  We all know this wasn't a "mistake" on the part of the Times.  It was willful and now that they are feeling a backlash, they have to spin the story. - Trent

FOR THE DAILY SHOW VIEWERS

John Stewart of The Daily Show played a clip of President Bush saying that "Mandela is dead."  He made it appear as if President Bush believed that Nelson Mandela was dead.  He completely took the quote out of context in order to try to make President Bush look bad.  Now before any of you liberal whackos tell me it was just a joke or that the Daily Show is political satire, think about all the times you protect this boob and tell me how much political influence he has.  You can't have it both ways.  Either he engages in political satire or he is a political analyst.  Here is a link to what President Bush actually said in it's full context.  It's obvious he didn't mean that Nelson Mandela was dead.  He was saying that there are no Nelson Mandela like figures in Iraq because Saddam had killed them all.  Unfortunately, most of John Stewart's audience isn't wise enough to do a little research to see what was actually said and they will continue to get the "news" from this moron.

VIDEO OF PRESIDENT BUSH

STUPID STUNT RUDY

It wasn't cute.  It wasn't funny.  And it certainly didn't buy you any favor.  For Rudy, a candidate who already has gun owners nervous about his record, to interrupt his speech before the N.R.A. to take a "spontaneous" phone call from his wife, was just plain stupid.  Whichever one of your handlers or campaign advisers thought up that chirade...fire them now.  We don't need nonsense like this.  It was completely disrespectful to your audience.  I like Rudy, but between this and his saying that illegal immigration is not a crime....his stock has gone down in my book a little.

These 25 Senators have more respect for a liberal website, than they do for one of our own brave military leaders. It's pretty sad and pathetic if you ask me.

CANADIAN POLITICIAN COMES TO U.S. FOR HEALTH CARE

Liberal MP Belinda Stronach, who is battling breast cancer, traveled to California last June for an operation that was recommended as part of her treatment, says a report.

Stronach's spokesman, Greg MacEachern, told the Toronto Star that the MP for Newmarket-Aurora had a "later-stage" operation in the U.S. after a Toronto doctor referred her.

"Belinda had one of her later-stage operations in California, after referral from her personal physicians in Toronto. Prior to this, Belinda had surgery and treatment in Toronto, and continues to receive follow-up treatment there," said MacEachern.

REST OF THE STORY:

She is spinning this story as not to insult her own country's "universal healthcare" system.  The truth is the United States provides the best health care in the world.  The liberals/Democrats are trying to bring our healthcare down to the levels of the rest of the world by instituting universal coverage.  It's a fact that universal healthcare simply does not work.  Ask anyone in a socialist or communist country with government run healthcare, where they would rather get sick....in their country or the United States?  The answers will give you all you need to know about so-called "free" healthcare.

CONGRESS DIVES EVEN DEEPER IN APPROVAL RATINGS

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress registered record-low approval ratings in a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday, and a new monthly index measuring the mood of Americans dipped slightly on deepening worries about the economy.

Only 29 percent of Americans gave Bush a positive grade for his job performance, below his worst Zogby poll mark of 30 percent in March. A paltry 11 percent rated Congress positively, beating the previous low of 14 percent in July.

REP. MURTHA CONFRONTED ABOUT HADITHA ACCUSATIONS

I absolutely love this video.  Kudos to Jason Mattera of the Young America's Foundation.  It's about time Rep. Murtha has been confronted about his accusations.  It's obvious the press wasn't going to do it.  Rep. Murtha tries to turn the tables on Jason by asking Jason if he served.  While i respect Rep. Murtha's service, that does not give him the right to smear and attack our brave men and women in the military today.

All this kid had to do was sit down and stop resisting when the police confronted him.  Instead, he continued to resist and to scream and making a scene.  This is the new tactic of the liberals.  "Since I can't get enough people to listen to my kooky liberal views, I'll crash someone else's gathering and make a spectacle of myself."  I'll give him credit though...he has introduced the new phrase of the week:  "Don't tase me bro!"

HILLARYCARE...TAKE TWO

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton is unveiling a sweeping health care reform proposal Monday that would require every American to carry health insurance and offer federal subsidies to help reduce the cost of coverage.

With a price tag of about $110 billion per year, Clinton's "American Health Choices Plan" represents her first major effort to achieve universal health coverage since 1994, when the plan she authored during her husband's first term collapsed.

The former first lady says she has learned from that experience, which almost derailed Bill Clinton's presidency and helped put Republicans in control of Congress for years to come. Aides say she has jettisoned the complexity and uncertainty of the last effort in favor of a plan that stresses simplicity, cost control and consumer choice.

RETIRED FEDERAL DISTRICT JUDGE MIKE MUKASEY TO BE NOMINEE FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL

"Mike Mukasey is the leading candidate and almost certainly will be the nominee for the attorney general," said Kristol, a regular panelist on "FOX News Sunday," who first wrote the news in an online version of his magazine late Saturday.

"I think the president will make the nomination tomorrow. Mukasey is a retired almost-20-year federal district judge in New York, extremely well-respected. I think he'll be easily confirmed," Kristol said.

FRANCE SAYS WORLD SHOULD PREPARE FOR WAR WITH IRAN

The world should brace for a possible war over the Iranian nuclear crisis but seeking a solution through talks should take priority, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said on Sunday.

"We have to prepare for the worst, and the worst is war," he said in an interview broadcast on French television and radio.

"We must negotiate right to the end," with Iran, he said, but underlined that if Tehran possessed an atomic weapon, it would represent "a real danger for the whole world."

ISRAELIS "SECRET" RAID ON KOREAN SHIPMENT TO SYRIA

"It was just after midnight when the 69th Squadron of Israeli F15Is crossed the Syrian coast-line. On the ground, Syria’s formidable air defences went dead. An audacious raid on a Syrian target 50 miles from the Iraqi border was under way.

At a rendezvous point on the ground, a Shaldag air force commando team was waiting to direct their laser beams at the target for the approaching jets. The team had arrived a day earlier, taking up position near a large underground depot. Soon the bunkers were in flames.

Ten days after the jets reached home, their mission was the focus of intense speculation this weekend amid claims that Israel believed it had destroyed a cache of nuclear materials from North Korea."

THE DEMOCRAT'S RESPONSE 9/13/07

I'm Senator Jack Reed from Rhode Island, and I was privileged to serve in the United States Army for 12 years.

I opposed the war in Iraq from the beginning. It was a flawed strategy that diverted attention and resources away from hunting down Usama bin Laden’s terrorist network.

And since then, too often, the President's Iraq policies have worsened America's security.

Hundreds of billions have been spent.

Our military is strained.

Over 27,000 Americans have been wounded, and over 3,700 of our best and brightest have been killed.

Tonight, a nation eager for change in Iraq heard the President speak about his plans for the future.

But once again, the President failed to provide either a plan to successfully end the war or a convincing rationale to continue it.

The President rightfully invoked the valor of our troops in his speech, but his plan does not amount to real change.

Soldiers take a solemn oath to protect our nation, and we have a solemn responsibility to send them into battle only with clear and achievable missions.

Tonight, the President provided neither.

As a former Army officer, I know the great sacrifices our soldiers and their families make.

Our military can defeat any foe on the battlefield.

Yet, as General Petraeus has repeatedly stated, Iraq's fundamental problems are not military, they are political.

The only way to create a lasting peace in Iraq is for Iraqi leaders to negotiate a settlement of their long-standing differences.

When the President launched the surge in January, he told us that its purpose was to provide Iraqi leaders with the time to make that political progress.

But now, nine months into the surge, the President's own advisers tell us that Iraq’s leaders have not, and are not likely to do so.

Meanwhile, thousands of brave Americans remain in the crossfire of another country’s civil war.

So tonight, we find ourselves at a critical moment.

Do we continue to heed the President's call that all Iraq needs is more time, more money, and the indefinite presence of 130,000 American troops — the same number as nine months ago?

Or do we follow what is in our nation's best interest and redefine our mission in Iraq?

Democrats believe it is time to change course.

We think it's wrong that the President tells us there's not enough money for our veterans and children’s health care because he is spending $10 billion a month in Iraq.

We have put forth a plan to responsibly and rapidly begin a reduction of our troops.

Our proposal cannot erase the mistakes of the last four and a half years, but we can chart a better way forward.

That is why our plan focuses on counter-terrorism and training the Iraqi army.

It engages in diplomacy to bring warring factions to the table and addresses regional issues that inflame the situation.

It begins a responsible and rapid redeployment of our troops out of Iraq.

And it returns our focus to those who seek to do us harm: Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups.

An endless and unlimited military presence in Iraq is not an option.

Democrats and Republicans in Congress and throughout the nation cannot and must not stand idly by while our interests throughout the world are undermined and our Armed Forces are stretched toward the breaking point.

We intend to exercise our Constitutional duties and profoundly change our military involvement in Iraq.

We ask Americans of good will of whatever party to join with us in this historic effort to restore the strength and security of the United States.

I urge the President to listen to the American people and work with Congress to start bringing our troops home and develop a new policy that is truly worthy of their sacrifices.

Thank you.

PRESIDENT BUSH'S SPEECH ON IRAQ 9/13/07

THE PRESIDENT: Good evening. In the life of all free nations, there come moments that decide the direction of a country and reveal the character of its people.

We are now at such a moment.

In Iraq, an ally of the United States is fighting for its survival. Terrorists and extremists who are at war with us around the world are seeking to topple Iraq’s government, dominate the region, and attack us here at home. If Iraq’s young democracy can turn back these enemies, it will mean a more hopeful Middle East and a more secure America. This ally has placed its trust in the United States. And tonight, our moral and strategic imperatives are one: We must help Iraq defeat those who threaten its future and also threaten ours.

Eight months ago, we adopted a new strategy to meet that objective, including a surge in U.S. forces that reached full strength in June. This week, General David Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan Crocker testified before Congress about how that strategy is progressing. In their testimony, these men made clear that our challenge in Iraq is formidable. Yet they concluded that conditions in Iraq are improving, that we are seizing the initiative from the enemy, and that the troop surge is working.

The premise of our strategy is that securing the Iraqi population is the foundation for all other progress. For Iraqis to bridge sectarian divides, they need to feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods. For lasting reconciliation to take root, Iraqis must feel confident that they do not need sectarian gangs for security. The goal of the surge is to provide that security and to help prepare Iraqi forces to maintain it. As I will explain tonight, our success in meeting these objectives now allows us to begin bringing some of our troops home.

Since the surge was announced in January, it has moved through several phases. First was the flow of additional troops into Iraq, especially Baghdad and Anbar Province. Once these forces were in place, our commanders launched a series of offensive operations to drive terrorists and militias out of their strongholds. Finally, in areas that have been cleared, we are surging diplomatic and civilian resources to ensure that military progress is quickly followed up with real improvements in daily life.

Anbar Province is a good example of how our strategy is working. Last year, an intelligence report concluded that Anbar had been lost to Al Qaeda. Some cited this report as evidence that we had failed in Iraq and should cut our losses and pull out. Instead, we kept the pressure on the terrorists. The local people were suffering under the Taliban-like rule of Al Qaeda, and they were sick of it. So they asked us for help.

To take advantage of this opportunity, I sent an additional 4,000 Marines to Anbar as part of the surge. Together, local sheiks, Iraqi forces, and Coalition troops drove the terrorists from the capital of Ramadi and other population centers. Today, a city where Al Qaeda once planted its flag is beginning to return to normal. Anbar citizens who once feared beheading for talking to an American or Iraqi soldier now come forward to tell us where the terrorists are hiding. Young Sunnis who once joined the insurgency are now joining the army and police. And with the help of our Provincial Reconstruction Teams, new jobs are being created and local governments are meeting again.

These developments do not often make the headlines, but they do make a difference. During my visit to Anbar on Labor Day, local Sunni leaders thanked me for America’s support. They pledged they would never allow Al Qaeda to return. And they told me they now see a place for their people in a democratic Iraq. The Sunni governor of Anbar Province put it this way: Our tomorrow starts today.

The changes in Anbar show all Iraqis what becomes possible when extremists are driven out. They show Al Qaeda that it cannot count on popular support, even in a province its leaders once declared their home base. And they show the world that ordinary people in the Middle East want the same things for their children that we want for ours - a decent life and a peaceful future.

In Anbar, the enemy remains active and deadly. Earlier today, one of the brave tribal sheikhs who helped lead the revolt against Al Qaeda was murdered. In response, a fellow Sunni leader declared: We are determined to strike back and continue our work. And as they do, they can count on the continued support of the United States.

Throughout Iraq, too many citizens are being killed by terrorists and death squads. And for most Iraqis, the quality of life is far from where it should be. Yet General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker report that the success in Anbar is beginning to be replicated in other parts of the country.

One year ago, much of Baghdad was under siege. Schools were closed, markets were shuttered, and sectarian violence was spiraling out of control. Today, most of Baghdad’s neighborhoods are being patrolled by Coalition and Iraqi forces who live among the people they protect. Many schools and markets are reopening. Citizens are coming forward with vital intelligence. Sectarian killings are down. And ordinary life is beginning to return.

One year ago, much of Diyala Province was a sanctuary for Al Qaeda and other extremist groups, and its capital of Baqubah was emerging as an Al Qaeda stronghold. Today, Baqubah is cleared. Diyala Province is the site of a growing popular uprising against the extremists. And some local tribes are working alongside Coalition and Iraqi forces to clear out the enemy and reclaim their communities.

One year ago, Shia extremists and Iranian-backed militants were gaining strength and targeting Sunnis for assassination. Today, these groups are being broken up, and many of their leaders are being captured or killed.

These gains are a tribute to our military, they are a tribute to the courage of the Iraqi Security Forces, and they are a tribute to an Iraqi government that has decided to take on the extremists.

Now the Iraqi government must bring the same determination to achieving reconciliation. This is an enormous undertaking after more than three decades of tyranny and division. The government has not met its own legislative benchmarks - and in my meetings with Iraqi leaders, I have made it clear that they must.

Yet Iraq's national leaders are getting some things done. For example, they have passed a budget. They are sharing oil revenues with the provinces. They are allowing former Baathists to rejoin Iraqs military or receive government pensions. And local reconciliation is taking place. The key now is to link this progress in the provinces to progress in Baghdad. As local politics change, so will national politics.

Our troops in Iraq are performing brilliantly. Along with Iraqi forces, they have captured or killed an average of more than 1,500 enemy fighters per month since January. Yet ultimately, the way forward depends on the ability of Iraqis to maintain security gains. According to General Petraeus and a panel chaired by retired General Jim Jones, the Iraqi army is becoming more capable, although there is still a great deal of work to be done to improve the National Police. Iraqi forces are receiving increased cooperation from local populations. And this is improving their ability to hold areas that have been cleared.

Because of this success, General Petraeus believes we have now reached the point where we can maintain our security gains with fewer American forces. He has recommended that we not replace about 2,200 Marines scheduled to leave Anbar Province later this month. In addition, he says it will soon be possible to bring home an Army combat brigade, for a total force reduction of 5,700 troops by Christmas.

And he expects that by July, we will be able to reduce our troop levels in Iraq from 20 combat brigades to 15.

General Petraeus also recommends that in December, we begin transitioning to the next phase of our strategy in Iraq. As terrorists are defeated, civil society takes root, and the Iraqis assume more control over their own security, our mission in Iraq will evolve. Over time, our troops will shift from leading operations, to partnering with Iraqi forces, and eventually to overwatching those forces. As this transition in our mission takes place, our troops will focus on a more limited set of tasks, including counterterrorism operations and training, equipping, and supporting Iraqi forces.

I have consulted with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, other members of my national security team, Iraqi officials, and leaders of both parties in Congress. I have benefited from their advice, and I have accepted General Petraeuss recommendations. I have directed General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker to update their joint campaign plan for Iraq, so we can adjust our military and civilian resources accordingly. I have also directed them to deliver another report to Congress in March. At that time, they will provide a fresh assessment of the situation in Iraq and of the troop levels and resources we need to meet our national security objectives.

The principle guiding my decisions on troop levels in Iraq is return on success. The more successful we are, the more American troops can return home. And in all we do, I will ensure that our commanders on the ground have the troops and flexibility they need to defeat the enemy.

Americans want our country to be safe and our troops to begin coming home from Iraq. Yet those of us who believe success in Iraq is essential to our security, and those who believe we should bring our troops home, have been at odds. Now, because of the measure of success we are seeing in Iraq, we can begin seeing troops come home.

The way forward I have described tonight makes it possible, for the first time in years, for people who have been on opposite sides of this difficult debate to come together.

This vision for a reduced American presence also has the support of Iraqi leaders from all communities. At the same time, they understand that their success will require U.S. political, economic, and security engagement that extends beyond my Presidency. These Iraqi leaders have asked for an enduring relationship with America. And we are ready to begin building that relationship - in a way that protects our interests in the region and requires many fewer American troops.

The success of a free Iraq is critical to the security of the United States. A free Iraq will deny Al Qaeda a safe haven. A free Iraq will counter the destructive ambitions of Iran. A free Iraq will marginalize extremists, unleash the talent of its people, and be an anchor of stability in the region. A free Iraq will set an example for people across the Middle East. A free Iraq will be our partner in the fight against terror - and that will make us safer here at home.

Realizing this vision will be difficult, but it is achievable. Our military commanders believe we can succeed. Our diplomats believe we can succeed. And for the safety of future generations of Americans, we must succeed.

If we were to be driven out of Iraq, extremists of all strains would be emboldened. Al Qaeda could gain new recruits and new sanctuaries. Iran would benefit from the chaos and would be encouraged in its efforts to gain nuclear weapons and dominate the region. Extremists could control a key part of the global energy supply. Iraq could face a humanitarian nightmare. Democracy movements would be violently reversed. We would leave our children to face a far more dangerous world. And as we saw on September the 11th, 2001, those dangers can reach our cities and kill our people.

Whatever political party you belong to, whatever your position on Iraq, we should be able to agree that America has a vital interest in preventing chaos and providing hope in the Middle East. We should be able to agree that we must defeat Al Qaeda, counter Iran, help the Afghan government, work for peace in the Holy Land, and strengthen our military so we can prevail in the struggle against terrorists and extremists.

So tonight I want to speak to Members of the United States Congress: Let us come together on a policy of strength in the Middle East. I thank you for providing crucial funds and resources for our military. And I ask you to join me in supporting the recommendations General Petraeus has made and the troop levels he has asked for.

To the Iraqi people: You have voted for freedom, and now you are liberating your country from terrorists and death squads. You must demand that your leaders make the tough choices needed to achieve reconciliation. As you do, have confidence that America does not abandon our friends, and we will not abandon you.

To Iraqs neighbors who seek peace: The violent extremists who target Iraq are also targeting you. The best way to secure your interests and protect your own people is to stand with the people of Iraq. That means using your economic and diplomatic leverage to strengthen the government in Baghdad. And it means the efforts by Iran and Syria to undermine that government must end.

To the international community: The success of a free Iraq matters to every civilized nation. We thank the 36 nations who have troops on the ground in Iraq and the many others who are helping that young democracy. We encourage all nations to help, by implementing the International Compact to revitalize Iraq's economy, by participating in the Neighbors Conferences to boost cooperation and overcome differences in the region, and by supporting the new and expanded mission of the United Nations in Iraq.

To our military personnel, intelligence officers, diplomats, and civilians on the frontlines in Iraq: You have done everything America has asked of you. And the progress I have reported tonight is in large part because of your courage and hard effort. You are serving far from home. Our Nation is grateful for your sacrifices, and the sacrifices of your families.

Earlier this year, I received an e-mail from the family of Army Specialist Brandon Stout of Michigan. Brandon volunteered for the National Guard and was killed while serving in Baghdad. His family has suffered greatly. Yet in their sorrow, they see larger purpose. His wife, Audrey, says that Brandon felt called to serve and knew what he was fighting for. And his parents, Tracy and Jeff, wrote me this: We believe this is a war of good and evil and we must win … even if it cost the life of our own son. Freedom is not free.

This country is blessed to have Americans like Brandon Stout, who make extraordinary sacrifices to keep us safe from harm. They are doing so in a fight that is just, and right, and necessary. And now it falls to us to finish the work they have begun.

Some say the gains we are making in Iraq come too late. They are mistaken. It is never too late to deal a blow to Al Qaeda. It is never too late to advance freedom. And it is never too late to support our troops in a fight they can win.

Good night, and God bless America.

LIFE IS HECTIC

I've gotten a few emails recently asking me why I don't post several blogs here everyday.  The truth of the matter is that I don't always have time.  I am still building ProudConservative.com into a successful business, but I am not all the way there yet.  So for now, I still have a regular job.  I have a family.  So unfortunately, there are days that I can't devote much time to the blog portion of ProudConservative.com.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I know that my readers and customers are all very well informed people.  If I don't post a link to a news article, I know that they will still find the information they need.  I will do my best to post in here as often as possible.  As the site continues to grow larger and larger, I should be able to spend more and more time on it.

I appreciate the kind words of encouragement I get.  Trust me, it means the world to me.  I am doing my small part in beating back liberalism as are most of you.....I know I get some lib readers as I get your hate mail.

So I will do my best to post as much as I can in here.  If I miss a few days (Fridays and Sundays are especially tough) you know why.  If you are looking for a story, that you don't see here, click on my links page.  There are several sites there that have the budget and staff to report on all the news items of the day.  In the meantime, check out the rest of ProudConservative.com.  There are a bunch of jokes.  There are photos.  I have written several editorials.  There are a few interviews.  And, of course, there is the store where you can purchase T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats.  The store page is the meat and bones of this site.  It is what allows me to have the site up and running and hopefully becomes a full time business in the relatively near future.

DON'T COUNT NEWT OUT OF THE RACE JUST YET

Newt Gingrich is moving closer to a presidential nomination bid in a severely divided Republican Party.

"I will decide based on whether I have about $30 million in committed campaign contributions and whether I think it is possible to run a campaign based on ideas rather than 30-second sound bites," the former House speaker told The Washington Times yesterday.

Many Republicans, regardless of whether they agree with his views, regard him as conservatism's brainiest and most-engaging politician.

"The party believes ideas have consequences, and no one articulates our message better than Newt," said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saulius "Saul" Anuzis.

REST OF THE STORY

My take on the issue is I would welcome Newt Gingrich in to the race.  That is not to say I would support his candidacy, but I very well might.  He is one of the 5 candidates I am still considering endorsing.  Does he have baggage?  Of course he does.  But who in the world has more baggage than Hillary Clinton?  He is highly intelligent and has a great grasp on history which would be an invaluable asset to any Presidential contender.  And at a minimum, it will force the other candidates to keep conservatism as part of their message.

IRAN WANTS PEACE AND FRIENDSHIP FOR ALL....THAT IS UNLESS YOU ARE AN INFIDEL

CNN) -- Iran wants "peace and friendship for all," the country's president said Wednesday while again denying Western assertions his nation is pursuing nuclear weapons and trying to destabilize Iraq.

But Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took a hard line against Israel, calling it "an invader" and saying it "cannot continue its life."

TERRORISTS PLANNING ATTACKS ON SCHOOLS?

There are alot of people out there that say, "Why don't we just nuke the middle east and turn the place into a parking lot?"  If a plot, such as the one Glenn Beck discusses here, ever unfolded, I would become one of these people.  I don't say that lightly either.

TERRORIST PLOT TO ATTACK U.S. SCHOOLS

"GENERAL PETRAEUS OR GENERAL BETRAY US"

This is the ad that MoveOn.org posted in the New York Times the other day.    "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?  Cooking the books for the White House"  I really hope that the American public is watching what the groups on the left are doing.  These are the same groups that the Democrat party of today are beholden to.  To attack a decorated General in this manner, basically accusing him of actions that are traitorous, is just unacceptable.  They are accusing him of being a schill for the Bush Administration.  This is the so-called "respect" they show for this man who has dedicated his life to serving his nation.  He is out there everyday on the frontline of the war on terror and this is how the liberals treat him?  What's even more shameful is that the elected Democrats are not distancing themselves from this organization or this advertisement.  The Democrats are so invested in the defeat of their own nation in order to gain more power, they are willing to say anything.  They are willing to call General Petraeus a liar.  They are willing to say that he doesn't know what he is talking about.  I very rarely use the word "outrage" because I believe it is an overused word and is losing it's true meaning, but this whole situation is outrageous.  Show this ad to your Democrat friends.  Tell them what they are saying about this man.  Ask them if they believe this is an appropriate way to speak about one of our Generals.

I know...I know, I am attacking the patriotism of Democrats.  You know what?  I am.  I admit it.  You want to speak about one of our active Generals who is out there everyday risking his life for the service of this nation, yes I am questioning your patriotism and I'm not afraid to say that.

BIN LADEN VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

Image from SITE Institute

"All praise is due to Allah, who built the heavens and earth in justice, and created man as a favor and grace from Him. And from His ways is that the days rotate between the people, and from His Law is retaliation in kind: an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth and the killer is killed. And all praise is due to Allah, who awakened His slaves' desire for the Garden, and all of them will enter it except those who refuse. And whoever obeys Him alone in all of his affairs will enter the Garden, and whoever disobeys Him will have refused."

"As for what comes after: Peace be upon he who follows the Guidance. People of America: I shall be speaking to you on important topics which concern you, so lend me your ears. I begin by discussing the war which is between us and some of its repercussions for us and you."

"To preface, I say: despite America being the greatest economic power and possessing the most powerful and up-to-date military arsenal as well; and despite it spending on this war and is army more than the entire world spends on its armies; and despite it being the being the major state influencing the policies of the world, as if it has a monopoly on the unjust right of veto; despite all of this, 19 young men were able - by the grace of Allah, the Most High- to change the direction of its compass. And in fact, the subject of the Mujahideen has become an inseparable part of the speech of your leader, and the effects and signs of that are not hidden."

"Since the 11th, many of America's policies have come under the influence of the Mujahideen, and that is by the grace of Allah, the Most High. And as a result, the people discovered the truth about it, its reputation worsened, its prestige was broken globally and it was bled dry economically, even if our interests overlap with the interests of the major corporations and also with those of the neoconservatives, despite the differing intentions."

"And for your information media, during the first years of the war, lost its credibility and manifested itself as a tool of the colonialist empires, and its condition has often been worse than the condition of the media of the dictatorial regimes which march in the caravan of the single leader."

"Then Bush talks about his working with al-Maliki and his government to spread freedom in Iraq but he in fact is working with the leaders of one sect against another sect, in the belief that this will quickly decide the war in his favor."

"And thus, what is called the civil war came into being and matters worsened at his hands before getting out of his control and him becoming like the one who plows and sows the sea: he harvests nothing but failure."

"So these are some of the results of the freedom about whose spreading he is talking to you. And then the backtracking of Bush on his insistence on not giving the United Nations expanded jurisdiction in Iraq is an implicit admission of his loss and defeat there. "

"And among the most important items contained in Bush’s speeches since the events of the 11th is that the Americans have no option but to continue the war. This tone is in fact an echoing of the words of neoconservatives like Cheney, Rumsfeld and Richard Pearle, the latter having said previously that the Americans have no choice in front of them other than to continue the war or face a holocaust."

"I say, refuting this unjust statement, that the morality and culture of the holocaust is your culture, not our culture. In fact, burning living beings is forbidden in our religion, even if they be small like the ant, so what of man?! The holocaust of the Jews was carried out by your brethren in the middle of Europe, but had it been closer to our countries, most of the Jews would have been saved by taking refuge with us. And my proof for that is in what your brothers, the Spanish, did when they set up the horrible courts of the Inquisition to try Muslims and Jews, when the Jews only found safe shelter by taking refuge in our countries. And that is why the Jewish community in Morocco today is one of the largest communities in the world. They are alive with us and we have not incinerated them, but we are a people who don't sleep under oppression and reject humiliation and disgrace, and we take revenge on the people of tyranny and aggression, and the blood of the Muslims will not be spilled with impunity, and the morrow is nigh for he who awaits."

"Also, your Christian brothers have been living among us for 14 centuries: in Egypt alone, there are millions of Christians whom we have not incinerated and shall not incinerate. But the fact is, there is a continuing and biased campaign being waged against us for a long time now by your politicians and many of your writers by way of your media, especially Hollywood, for the purpose of misrepresenting Islam and its adherents to drive you away from the true religion. The genocide of peoples and their holocausts took place at your hands: only a few specimens of Red Indians were spared, and just a few days ago, the Japanese observed the 62nd anniversary of the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by your nuclear weapons."

"And among the things which catch the eye of the one who considers the repercussions of your unjust war against Iraq is the failure of your democratic system, despite it raising of the slogans of justice, liberty, equality and humanitarianism. It has not only failed to achieve these things, it has actually destroyed these and other concepts with its weapons - especially in Iraq and Afghanistan- in a brazen fashion, to replace them with fear, destruction, killing, hunger, illness, displacement and more than a million orphans in Baghdad alone, not to mention hundreds of thousands of widows. Americans statistics speak of the killing of more than 650,000 of the people of Iraq as a result of the war and its repercussions."

"People of America: the world is following your news in regards to your invasion of Iraq, for people have recently come to know that, after several years of the tragedies of this war, the vast majority of you want it stopped. Thus, you elected the Democratic Party for this purpose, but the Democrats haven't made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there, which has led to the vast majority of you being afflicted with disappointment."

"And here is the gist of the matter, so one should pause, think and reflect: why have the Democrats failed to stop this war, despite them being the majority?"

"I will come back to reply to this question after raising another question, which is:"

"Why are the leaders of the White House keen to start wars and wage them around the world, and make use of every possible opportunity through which they can reach this purpose, occasionally even creating justifications based on deception and blatant lies, as you saw Iraq?"

"In the Vietnam War, the leaders of the White House claimed at the time that it was a necessary and crucial war, and during it, Rumsfeld and his aides murdered two million villagers. And when Kennedy took over the presidency and deviated from the general line of policy drawn up for the White House and wanted to stop this unjust war, that angered the owners of the major corporations who were benefiting from its continuation."

"And so Kennedy was killed, and al-Qaida wasn’t present at that time, but rather, those corporations were the primary beneficiary from his killing. And the war continued after that for approximately one decade. But after it became clear to you that it was an unjust and unnecessary war, you made one of your greatest mistakes, in that you neither brought to account nor punished those who waged this war, not even the most violent of its murderers, Rumsfeld. And even more incredible than that is that Bush picked him as secretary of defense in his first term after picking Cheney as his vice president, Powell as secretary of state and Armitage as Powell's deputy, despite their horrific and blood history of murdering humans. So that was clear signal that his administration - the administration of the generals- didn't have as its main concern the serving of humanity, but rather, was interested in bringing about new massacres. Yet in spite of that, you permitted Bush to complete his first term, and stranger still, chose him for a second term, which gave him a clear mandate from you - with your full knowledge and consent- to continue to murder our people in Iraq and Afghanistan."

"Then you claim to be innocent! This innocence of yours is like my innocence of the blood of your sons on the 11th - were I to claim such a thing. But it is impossible for me to humor any of you in the arrogance and indifference you show for the lives of humans outside America, or for me to humor your leaders in their lying, as the entire world knows they have the lion's share of that. These morals aren't our morals. What I want to emphasize here is that not taking past war criminals to account led to them repeating that crime of killing humanity without right and waging this unjust war in Mesopotamia, and as a result, here are the oppressed ones today continuing to take their right from you."

"This war was entirely unnecessary, as testified to by your own reports. And among the most capable of those from your own side who speak to you on this topic and on the manufacturing of public opinion is Noam Chomsky, who spoke sober words of advice prior to the war, but the leader of Texas doesn't like those who give advice. The entire world came out in unprecedented demonstrations to warn against waging the war and describe its true nature in eloquent terms like "no to spilling red blood for black oil," yet he paid them no heed. It is time for humankind to know that talk of the rights of man and freedom are lies produced by the White House and its allies in Europe to deceive humans, take control of their destinies and subjugate them. "

"So in answer to the question about the causes of the Democrats' failure to stop the war, I say: they are the same reasons which led to the failure of former president Kennedy to stop the Vietnam war. Those with real power and influence are those with the most capital. And since the democratic system permits major corporations to back candidates, be they presidential or congressional, there shouldn't be any cause for astonishment - and there isn't any- in the Democrats' failure to stop the war. And you're the ones who have the saying which goes, "Money talks." And I tell you: after the failure of your representatives in the Democratic Party to implement your desire to stop the war, you can still carry anti-war placards and spread out in the streets of major cities, then go back to your homes, but that will be of no use and will lead to the prolonging of the war."

"However, there are two solutions for stopping it. The first is from our side, and it is to continue to escalate the killing and fighting against you. This is our duty, and our brothers are carrying it out, and I ask Allah to grant them resolve and victory. And the second solution is from your side. It has now become clear to you and the entire world the impotence of the democratic system and how it plays with the interests of the peoples and their blood by sacrificing soldiers and populations to achieve the interests of the major corporations."

"And with that, it has become clear to all that they are the real tyrannical terrorists. In fact, the life of all of mankind is in danger because of the global warming resulting to a large degree from the emissions of the factories of the major corporations, yet despite that, the representative of these corporations in the White House insists on not observing the Kyoto accord, with the knowledge that the statistic speaks of the death and displacement of the millions of human beings because of that, especially in Africa. This greatest of plagues and most dangerous of threats to the lives of humans is taking place in an accelerating fashion as the world is being dominated by the democratic system, which confirms its massive failure to protect humans and their interests from the greed and avarice of the major corporations and their representatives."

"And despite this brazen attack on the people, the leaders of the West - especially Bush, Blair, Sarkozy and Brown- still talk about freedom and human rights with a flagrant disregard for the intellects of human beings. So is there a form of terrorism stronger, clearer and more dangerous than this? This is why I tell you: as you liberated yourselves before from the slavery of monks, kings, and feudalism, you should liberate yourselves from the deception, shackles and attrition of the capitalist system."

"If you were to ponder it well, you would find that in the end, it is a system harsher and fiercer than your systems in the Middle Ages. The capitalist system seeks to turn the entire world into a fiefdom of the major corporations under the label of "globalization" in order to protect democracy."

"And Iraq and Afghanistan and their tragedies; and the reeling of many of you under the burden of interest-related debts, insane taxes and real estate mortgages; global warming and its woes; and the abject poverty and tragic hunger in Africa: all of this is but one side of the grim face of this global system."

"So it is imperative that you free yourselves from all of that and search for an alternative, upright methodology in which it is not the business of any class of humanity to lay down its own laws to its own advantage at the expense of the other classes as is the case with you, since the essence of man-made positive laws is that they serve the interests of those with the capital and thus make the rich richer and the poor poorer."

"The infallible methodology is the methodology of Allah, the Most High, who created the heavens and earth and created the Creation and is the Most Kind and All-Informed and the Knower of the souls of His slaves and the methodology that best suits them."

"You believe with absolute certainty that you believe in Allah, and you are full of conviction of this belief, so much so that you have written this belief of yours on your dollar."

"But the truth is that you are mistake in this belief of yours. The impartial judge knows that belief in Allah requires straightness in the following of His methodology, and accordingly, total obedience must be to the orders and prohibitions of Allah Alone in all aspects of life."

"So how about you when you associate others with Him in your beliefs and separate state from religion, then claim that you are believers?!"

"What you have done is clear loss and manifest polytheism, And I will give you a parable of polytheism, as parables summarize and clarify speech."

"I tell you: its parable is the parable of a man who owns a shop and hires a worker and tells him, "Sell and give me the money," but he makes sales and give the money to someone other than the owner. So who of you would approve of that?"

"You believe that Allah is your Lord and your Creator and the Creator of this earth and that it is His property, then you work on His earth and property without His orders and without obeying Him, and you legislate in contradiction to His Law and methodology."

"This work of yours is the greatest form of polytheism and is rebellion against obedience to Allah with which the believer becomes an unbeliever, even if he obeys Allah in some of His other orders. Allah, the Most High, sent down His orders in His Sacred Books like the Torah and Evangel and sent with them the Messengers (Allah's prayers and peace be upon them) as bearers of good news to the people."

"And everyone who believes in them and complies with them is a believer from the people of the Garden. Then when the men of knowledge altered the words of Allah, the Most High, and sold them for a paltry price, as the rabbis did with the Torah and the monks with the Evangel, Allah sent down His final Book, the magnificent Quran, and safeguarded it from being added to or subtracted from by the hands of men, and in it is a complete methodology for the lives of all people."

"And our holding firm to this magnificent Book is the secret of our strength and winning of the war against you despite the fewness of our numbers and materiel. And if you would like to get to know some of the reasons for your losing of your war against us, then read the book of Michael Scheuer in this regard."

"Don't be turned away from Islam by the terrible situation of the Muslims today, for our rulers in general abandoned Islam many decades ago, but our forefathers were the leaders and pioneers of the world for many centuries, when they held firmly to Islam."

"And before concluding, I tell you: there has been an increase in the thinkers who study events and happenings, and on the basis of their study, they have declared the approach of the collapse of the American Empire."

"Among them is the European thinker who anticipated the fall of the Soviet Union, which indeed fell. And it would benefit you to read what he wrote about what comes after the empire in regard to the United States of America. I also want to bring your attention that among the greatest reasons for the collapse of the Soviet Union was their being afflicted with their leader Brezhnev, who was overtaken by pride and arrogance and refused to look at the facts on the ground. From the first year of the Afghanistan invasion, reports indicated that the Russians were losing the war, but he refused to acknowledge this, lest it go down in his personal history as a defeat, even though refusal to acknowledge defeat not only doesn't do anything to change the facts for thinking people, but also exacerbates the problem and increases the losses. And how similar is your position today to their position approximately two decades ago. The mistakes of Brezhnev are being repeated by Bush, who - when asked about the date of his withdrawing of forces from Iraq - said in effect that the withdrawal will not be during his reign, but rather, during the reign of the one who succeeds him. And the significance of these words is not hidden."

"And here I say: it would benefit you to listen to the poignant messages of your soldiers in Iraq, who are paying - with their blood, nerves and scattered limbs - the price for these sorts of irresponsible statements. Among them is the eloquent message of Joshua which he sent by way of the media, in which he wipes the tears from his eyes and describes American politicians in harsh terms and invites them to join him there for a few days. Perhaps his message will find in you an attentive ear so you can rescue him and more than 150,000 of your sons there who are tasting the two bitterest things: "

"If they leave their barracks, the mines devour them, and if they refuse to leave, rulings are passed against them. Thus, the only options left in front of them are to commit suicide or cry, both of which are from the severest of afflictions. So is there anything more men can do after crying and killing themselves to make you respond to them? They are doing that out of the severity of the humiliation, fear and terror which they are suffering. It is severer than what the slaves used to suffer at your hands centuries ago, and it is as if some of them have gone from one slavery to another slavery more severe and harmful, even if it be in the fancy dress of the Defense Department's financial enticements."

"So do you feel the greatness of their sufferings?"

"To conclude, I invite you to embrace Islam, for the greatest mistake one can make in this world and one which is uncorrectable is to die while not surrendering to Allah, the Most High, in all aspects of one's life - ie., to die outside of Islam. And Islam means gain for you in this first life and the next, final life. The true religion is a mercy for people in their lives, filling their hearts with serenity and calm."

T"here is a message for you in the Mujahideen: the entire world is in pursuit of them, yet their hearts, by the grace of Allah, are satisfied and tranquil. The true religion also puts peoples' lives in order with its laws; protects their needs and interests; refines their morals; protects them from evils; and guarantees for them entrance into Paradise in the hereafter through their obedience to Allah and sincere worship of Him Alone."

"And it will also achieve your desire to stop the war as a consequence, because as soon as the warmongering owners of the major corporations realize that you have lost confidence in your democratic system and begun to search for an alternative, and that this alternative is Islam, they will run after you to please you and achieve what you want to steer you away from Islam. So your true compliance with Islam will deprive them of the opportunity to defraud the peoples and take their money under numerous pretexts, like arms deals and so on. "

"There are no taxes in Islam, but rather there is a limited Zakaat [alms] totaling only 2.5%. So beware of the deception of those with the capital. And with your earnest reading about Islam from its pristine sources, you will arrive at an important truth, which is that the religion of all of the Prophets (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them) is one, and that its essence is submission to the orders of Allah Alone in all aspects of life, even if their Shari'ahs [Laws] differ."

"And did you know that the name of the Prophet of Allah Jesus and his mother (peace and blessings of Allah be on them both) are mentioned in the Noble Quran dozens of times, and that in the Quran there is a chapter whose name is "Maryam," i.e. Mary, daughter of 'Imran and mother of Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them both)? It tells the story of her becoming pregnant with the Prophet of Allah Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them both), and in its confirmation of her chastity and purity, in contrast to the fabrications of the Jews against her. Whoever wishes to find that out for himself must listen to the verse of this magnificent chapter: one of the just kings of the Christians - the Negus - listened to some of its verses and his eyes welled up with tears and he said something which should be reflected on for a long time by those sincere in their search for the truth."

"He said, "verily, this and what Jesus brought come from one lantern": i.e., that the magnificent Quran and the Evangel are both from Allah, the Most High; and every just and intelligent one of you who reflects on the Quran will definitely arrive at this truth. It also must be noted that Allah has preserved the Quran from the alterations of men. And reading in order to become acquainted with Islam only requires a little effort, and those of you who are guided will profit greatly. And peace be upon he who follows the Guidance."

Unfortunately, the webhosting company is again experiencing some glitches.   For the most part, it only seems to be affecting "The Store" page.  If you click on "The Store" page link and you see a big blank page....that is the glitch.  Sometimes it is working and other times it is not.  I have devised a way to work around this issue and so far it seems to be working, but it takes a few extra mouse clicks.  Go to my MySpace page by clicking on the link just below.  You will see pictures of all the products.  If you click on the picture of the item you want, it should bring you to the order page.  If you want to order a few items, you just need to go back to my MySpace page and click on the picture of the next item you would like and so on.  If you are still unable to order, send me an email and I can enter the transaction manually.  Please try clicking on "The Store" page link first though.  This issue may take several days to be resolved and so I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  Thank you for your patience.

FOX NEWS REPUBLICAN DEBATE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

The Republicans met in New Hampshire last night for another debate.  The debate started off with a short discussion on Fred Thompson but then moved on to the real issues.

Once again, the war in Iraq was the major topic.  Once again Ron Paul showed he was a kook.  The quote of the night as far as I'm concerned doesn't go to a candidate on the stage, but rather to Chris Wallace who was one of the questioners.  After Ron Paul said, "Yes, I would leave. I would leave completely. Why leave the troops in the region? It was the fact that we had troops in Saudi Arabia -- was one of the three reasons given for the attack on 9/11.  So why leave them in the region? They don't want our troops on the Arabian Peninsula. We have no need for our national security to have troops on the Arabian Peninsula."  Chris Wallace came back with "Congressman Paul...you're basically saying that we should take our marching orders from Al Qaida? If they want us off the Arabian Peninsula, we should leave?"  CLASSIC!

The other major issue discussed were illegal immigration, border security and taxes.  According to the polls (with the exception of the text messaging one in which the Ron Paul kooks and liberal bloggers go insane with) the candidates that stood out were Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee and John McCain.

Personally, I liked this debate.  It seemed as if the candidates were given time to express their thoughts.  There were even a few instances of actual debate instead of cramming soundbites in to a minute speech.  Most notably was the exchange between Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee.  I could type it all out here, but it's easier to just go to YouTube and actually watch it.  Or click on the link at the end to read the entire transcript of the debate.

Fred Thompson will be involved in future debates, but I think it may be time for some of the other candidates to get out.

FOX NEWS NH DEBATE TRANSCRIPT

FRED THOMPSON IS IN.

Fred Thompson officially announced that he will be running for the Republican nomination for the 2008 presidential race.  He made an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and said, "I'm running for President of the United States."  And with that, months of speculation and anticipation made way for the beginning of his campaign.

The other Republicans running were in New Hampshire for the Fox News debate.  They were all given a chance to take little shots at Thompson and did so in a light hearted manner:

"Well, Brit, I was scheduled to be on Jay Leno tonight, but I gave up my slot for somebody else because I'd rather be in New Hampshire with these fine people."       -Mike Huckabee

"Well, I welcome him to the race because, very specifically, he will help dilute the vote for my benefit...because he will be pro-war and I'm the anti-war candidate representing the Republican traditional position." - Ron Paul

"Well, I think that's a decision that Fred should make. Maybe we're up past his bed time." - John McCain

"You know, the only question I have for Senator Thompson is: Why the hurry? Why not take some more time off?" - Mitt Romney

"I like Fred a lot. I think Fred is a really, really good man. I think he's done a pretty good job of playing my part on "Law & Order." - Rudy Guiliani

So Fred's in.  I am interested in seeing what he brings to the table.  He is one of the candidates I am considering, but now that he's officially in, I expect to hear more detailed positions on the issues.  As for the people that say he waited too long, I personally think that's nonsense.  I believe there is still plenty of time for others to get in the race still.  Fred tackled this question with a simple answer.  "I don't think people are going to say, 'You know, that guy would make a very good president but he just didn't get in soon enough.'"

I'M BACK!!!!

Hello everyone.  Yes I know it's been over 2 weeks since I last posted and really with the exception of the problems with The Store, it's been over a month.  August was a crazy month.  I was preparing for a much needed vacation and then actually going on that vacation.  When I returned, I was trying to enjoy as much fun time with the kids before school started back up.  And then add in some computer issues....and well...it just wasn't a good month for the ProudConservative.com blog.  But I truly wasn't too worried about it.  I know my readers are all extremely intelligent people that don't need me to point them to the news stories of the day.  The ProudConservative.com readers are well informed people who get their information from numerous sources.  I am not one of these egotistical bloggers who think the world revolves around my blog.  I have said it a thousand times...."I'm just a dork with a website."  So while, I apologize for not posting much in the past month, I know you all got along just fine without me.

That being said.  I think I have the computer issues cleared up.  The kids are back in school.  Vacation is over.  So I hope to get some new entries in here.  Thanks for your patience.
