Why did I start this business?
I had the idea of this business after seeing several different people wearing anti-Bush shirts. Not that George W.
Bush was a strong conservative, because he wasn't, but people tried to connect him and conservatism so closely.
At the same time, it seemed like so many people were blaming America for everything. Fans of talk radio like to
refer to these people as the "blame America first" crowd. It all seemed strange to me. I searched around to see
what types of political shirts I could find. The overwhelming majority of them were for liberals. I thought,
"Someone should make some shirts for us conservatives to wear proudly." I thought, "Why not me?" I kept this
idea in my head for quite a while. "I will do it. It'll be great," I said to myself. A year later, I was still saying the
same thing.....
I love politics. I love listening to talk radio. Critics say that talk radio is unfair because it is all conservative. I
could not disagree more. Many of the hosts are conservative, but the callers seem to be equally mixed. The hosts
tend to put on the listeners (liberals) who disagree with them more often than the callers who agree with them. It is
great. It is informative. You get to hear both sides of every debate...the liberal and the conservative arguments.
But another great thing about talk radio shows like Andrew Wilkow's, Mike Church's, Mark Levin's, Sean
Hannity's and Rush Limbaugh's, is that you get to hear the great things about this country. If you watch or listen to
main stream media outlets, all you hear is the bad news about everything. I have constantly heard the
conservatives talk about the greatness of America....how you can become anything you want to in this country. I
have heard many success stories call in to these shows and say, "Rush, I am a successful businessman because I
heard you challenge people to take charge of their own lives and decided to start my own business." or "Sean,
after listening to your show, I decided to start my own business and it is working out great." One day, back in
2005, Rush was talking to a man who was a little down on his luck, and Rush challenged him to take his
God-given talents and start his own business. That same day, Sean had a similar conversation with a woman who
had already started her own business after being in a situation like the caller to Rush's show. Something inside me
just clicked. I said to myself, "You are constantly talking to people (mainly my kids) about personal responsibility.
You know this is a great country. You have that great idea for a business. Now is the time to start that business."
So I did. Here we are. That is how Sean and Rush inspired this business without even knowing me. I continue
to be inspired by several talk show hosts and now that this site has been around for a little while, I am especially
inspired by the e-mails I get from readers and customers of my site.

Why am I conservative?
It's kind of funny because people who knew me in school are so surprised to find out that I am a conservative. Of
all my siblings and my parents, I am the only conservative. I grew up in what most people would consider a
dysfunctional situation. Without going into every detail, let's just say that I learned from a very young age how to
be independent. My siblings did a lot for me but I had to do many things for myself. I learned to be self-reliant
before I ever knew what that meant. I used to be bothered by the way I grew up. However, I have come to
realize that it just prepared me for my life and it made me the person I am today.
In high school, I wasn't very interested in politics, but I just assumed I was a Democrat. After all, the Republicans
"were for the rich" right? And we were definitely not rich. When I graduated high school and got into the "real
world," I started following politics a little at first. But then I found it to be completely fascinating. I heard about
Rush Limbaugh in late 1991 or early 1992. Here was this guy on the radio that was saying all these things that I
believe, and he's a conservative. Wow! I soon realized not only was I a Republican, but a conservative one at
that. I was shocked. As time has gone on, I have not even been calling myself a Republican. Many in the
Republican Party have lost their way and have picked up some very bad, liberal habits and agendas. I could
already see this as I was launching my site which is why you see "ProudConservative.com" at the top of the page
and not "ProudRepublican.com." I am most definitely NOT a party person. My politics are based on
conservative ideals and principles with some libertarian stances thrown in as well.
To me the bedrock of conservatism is personal responsibility. So the way I grew up, having to do most things for
myself, I firmly believe in personal responsibility. I have a strong work ethic. If I want something, I will go out and
work for it. I don't want the government handing it to me. I don't want the government doing everything. I know
people can provide for themselves and their families. I believe the government could get rid of so many of their
"so-called social programs" and we, the people, would be just fine. Want an example? How about when the
liberals say that the government needs to pay for daycare so that struggling families can make ends meet? Well if
we weren't taxed so much to pay for all of these programs, one of the parents could stay home with the kids and
they wouldn't need daycare in the first place. There are so many other examples, but let's just say I don't think
they need to take so much of our hard earned money. I can spend my own money better than the government
can. Hence I believe in low taxes for all people....upper, lower, and middle classes. I believe abortion is wrong,
especially as a form of birth control. Personal responsibility.
One thing, the main thing, I believe the government is responsible for is our national defense. Therefore, I believe
in a strong military.
Basically, I just want our politicians to follow the Constitution. If they would just do that, I believe the majority of
the problems this country has and the issues we are currently dealing with, would work themselves out on their
own. As Ronald Reagan said, "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem."
These are a few of the reasons, I am conservative. I am proud to be conservative. I am a proud conservative.
